Brokk, the world's leading manufacturer of remote-controlled demolition robots, announced the addition of accessories to the Brokk Surface Grinder 530 (BSG 530) for removing materials such as paint and asbestos, surface treatment and polishing of walls, floors and ceilings in renovation and restoration applications. BSG 530 is compatible with Brokk 170, Brokk 200 and Brokk 300, which enables contractors to handle a series of previously labor-intensive projects up to 10 times faster. Compared with the manual method, pairing the surface grinder accessories with the remote control operation of Brokk can also provide workers with higher safety.
Brokk will display BSG 530 at Bauma Exhibition in Munich, Germany from October 24th to 30th, and its outdoor booth FM711/4 will display BSG 530. The company will also display its full range of electric demolition robots, from Brokk 70 to Brokk 900, and the dust suppression system with atomized water mist. Brokk's indoor booth A1.451 will include Brokk 70, new Brokk grab saw paired with Brokk 110 and atomized water mist paired with Brokk 170.
Martin Krupicka, CEO of Brokk Group, said: "Brokk surface grinder fills the gap in the surface grinding market, which has long used hand-held tools to make ceilings and walls. "Brokk surface grinder provides a faster and safer choice than manual method, especially when dealing with hazardous materials. Since 1970s, we have seen the great potential of building concrete renovation, when asbestos was often used for insulation and fire prevention.
The BSG 530 can be completely remotely controlled through the Brokk control box, providing an automated method for stripping gypsum, contaminated materials, tile adhesives and paints from walls, ceilings and floors. This pairing can effectively remove materials through continuous contact and high pressure on the surface, thus achieving more uniform and consistent removal over a large area, which cannot be achieved by hand-held grinding tools. The accessory can reach a grinding pressure of 2,300 Newton (for wall application) and 1,100 Newton (for ceiling application). BSG 530 also has the function of constantly adjusting the grinding pressure to keep constant.
In addition to greatly improving efficiency and quality, Brokk robot and surface grinder accessories also provide operators with higher safety and comfort than hand-held tools. With the help of the remote control, the operator can place himself at a safe distance from the removal site, thus reducing the risk of debris falling and mistakes on scaffolding or ladders. They can also keep a distance from dust, especially in decontamination applications. In addition, remote operation eliminates the fatigue of workers caused by the continuous vibration of hand-held tools. Reducing the physical wear and tear of workers helps to prevent long-term and short-term injuries that affect productivity. In order to further ensure the contractor's safety when removing harmful substances, Brokk provides an optional dust removal system with accessories for capturing harmful particles.
By adding optional tools, BSG 530 can also be used for surface treatment, thus forming a texture that is very suitable for bonding new materials. Brokk also provides optional tools for polishing concrete and natural stones on walls, ceilings and floors.
The working weight of BSG 530 is 230 kg (507 lbs), the length is 140 cm (55 inches), the width is 64 cm (25 inches) and the height is 65 cm (26 inches).
The annex is available in Europe, Asia, Africa, Oceania and Latin America. It is one of the many efficiency-enhancing accessories provided by Brokk.
