ITH technology has greatly expanded the product portfolio of sandvik deep-hole drilling system. Although the top hammer drilling rig can drill small holes with faster initial penetration rate and lower energy consumption, the ITH technology has higher accuracy and is especially suitable for drilling fractured rocks. It can drill holes more than 100 meters deep and provide a larger drilling mode, that is, it can bear more tonnage weight per meter drilled. The optimum hole diameter range of top hammer drilling rig is between 51 mm and 127 mm (2 to 5 inches), the initial range of ITH application is 100 mm (4 inches) and can be extended to 203 mm (8 inches) or even longer, the reaming can be as high as 445 mm (17.5 inches) and the V30 hole can reach 762 mm (30 inches).
The general applications of sandvik DU412i include fan-shaped drilling, bottom-pulling drilling, cutting grooves, drainage and inspection holes, pretreatment holes, reverse circulation of taste control and pre-stripping for exploration. The components of DU412i are universal in other 400i series equipment, so they are very flexible in use, which is the key feature of this equipment.

All new generation rigs in sandvik share common basic components and bearing equipment. The components are universal and the user interface is similar, which is convenient for operators and maintenance technicians to use and maintain the equipment. The versatility of spare parts for new generation rigs can minimize the required inventory.
The brand-new design of combined drilling rig and rod storage makes the maintenance easier, and the rod storage and transmission configuration can be modified even under outdoor conditions in the future, thus coping with the ever-changing production needs and mine environment. Both the standard heavy-duty drilling rig and the V30 pusher use a single rod storage device. All centralizers, conveying and shifting strength options have standardized installation and electro-hydraulic control. The brand-new drilling module is specially optimized for instrumentation and automation, and is jointly designed by sandvik product departments in Winnipeg, Canada and Tampere, Finland. This flexible concept is even embodied in the power supply components of the drilling rig: the multi-voltage compatibility system enables the mining contractor to move the drilling rig to another country at will, because the machine can easily adapt to different power grid ratings: 50 Hz and 60 Hz frequencies, with voltages ranging from 380V to 1,000V V.
Another key feature of sandvik DU412i is full automation. The product is designed in two levels: providing standard silver-grade single-hole automation for all drilling rigs and platinum-grade automation for multi-hole applications.
Single-hole automation system enables the drill bit to drill to a certain depth automatically, and it can be recovered automatically when it is completed. The operator can leave the equipment temporarily during drilling. Platinum equipment can realize automatic positioning between holes, drilling plan setting and wireless data transmission through mine network, thus realizing automatic control. These automation features can increase the utilization rate of equipment when workers alternate shifts, blasting cleaning or unattended.
